Music
n.
Is defined as the art of arranging sounds in time so
as to produce a continuous, unified,
and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm,
and timbre.
The current "music" situation is a situation
that is in flux. Rock music has seemed to lose its luster
from the crescendo of the 70’s thru early 90’s
and now hip-hop holds the dubious distinction of, monkey
see; monkey do. Enter: DelFuMo a.k.a. Delaware Funk Mobb.
DelFuMo is clearly the bridge not only for the art of music,
but on an even bigger social scale a gathering of generations,
cultures, and musical genre’s.
DelFuMo in Spanish means "Of the Smoke" and while
the band has only been in place for 7 months, they do bring
the fire. Collectively they have over 50 years of combined
experience. Before their individual journeys led them to
become DelFuMo, independently members had been preparing
for this moment.

The moniker DelFuMo was originally conceived in 1997 when
BALDWIN then “Big Steel,” and Wyatt Erpp then
"Multi" formed a hip-hop group with two other
members. Although they achieved some moderate success the
group was short lived. BALDWIN and Erpp remained friends
and continued recording and performing together and have
done more than 250 gigs, talent shows, showcases etc
In 2001, BALDWIN who draws inspiration from all of the
great artists and writers of our time, began a project with
Grammy Award winning Engineer / Producer David Ivory. Soon
after they were successful in getting two of their original
tracks placed on the hit CBS television series "Hack."
BALDWIN who has a unique look and is never known to be shy
in the public eye discovered his next obvious direction,
acting. As an aspiring actor, BALDWIN has been able to get
roles in “Hack” (2 separate occasions) and HBO
original movie “Undefeated” and HBO series "THE
WIRE" as well as 2 nationally released Independent
movies; "Without a Badge" & “Felonius.”
Felonious, a critically acclaimed independent movie not
only shows BALDWIN and ERPP’s acting ability but it
also uses two of their songs on the soundtrack. “Change”
& “Better Days”
The two songs used, were produced by Mattie Moz, a musical
genius since childhood, who gains inspiration from Alchemist
and Dr. DRE is a hip-hop producer that is always looking
for that bigger, newer sound Mattie who liked the name DelFuMo
so much he chose it as the name for his independent record
label. Mattie and “Big Steel” released a CD
“Welcome to My World” in 2001 that received
great reviews, and major record label attention.
Wyatt ERPP is “MULTI”-talented; he’s
a lyricist, singer, comedian, and artist. He joined the
others in the creative process and that’s when they
all realized that they were onto something groundbreaking.
Now add to ERPP’s list of skills is his guitar playing.
In a relatively short period of time DelFuMo has taken
a life all its own. It was obvious from their first time
playing an open mic in February 2005 at Kahunaville (Delaware’s
largest venue), that DelFuMo creates energy every time they
take to the stage. Kahunaville was so impressed that they
began booking DelFuMo immediately, and the fact that an
“original” band began getting booked there,
was unprecedented. They have garnished press already being
interviewed and reviewed regularly.
Already DelFuMo has opened for Kanye West, John Legend,
Maxi Priest, and The Whalers and have shared the stage with
legendary Grammy Award Winning singer songwriter Bunny Sigler.
DelFuMo has drawn many comparisons to icons such as, The
Fugees, Black Eyed Peas, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band,
Limp Biskit, PM Dawn, Fleetwood Mac, Hootie and the Blowfish,
Public Enemy, Naughty by Nature and A Tribe Called Quest.
What is certain is that while all of these acts are great,
none of them have the balance and blend of DelFuMo. Maybe
this group of stars should call itself “constellation”.
